I love projects that tell a story, with layers that peel away revealing more details underneath. "Heart’s Warning" features a control panel stylized concept with layers giving the panel a weather-worn look.

Step 2: Once your paint is dry, take a heat tool and heat your project to melt the wax. Rub away the wax resist layer revealing the layer of black underneath. Stamp over your image using black ink and a selection of industrial style stamps.

Step 3: Take a brayer and coat with a thin layer of Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Everlasting, roll the brayer over your substrate to create a mottled effect. The aim is to give a patchy finish, not to coat the whole piece. Add further distressed elements by adding areas of DecoArt Media Crackle Paste smoothed over with a palette knife.

Step 4: Select your dial elements and begin painting them with your base layers. Think about the overall finish you want to achieve and paint the dials accordingly.

Step 5: Add layers of washes of Raw Umber, Payne's Grey and Quinacridone Gold to tone down your base colours. Create an even more realistic look to your dial by including a layer of acetate, painted with a layer of Americana Decou-Page matte glue, and washed over with a layer of Raw Umber. Stick your dial together.

Step 6: Before gluing your dial to your substrate add a finial wash of Payne's Grey over the base, concentrating the intensity of colour around the edges. Glue your dial in place and add extra details like red and green buttons, and a little heart finished with DecoArt Media Liquid Glass to create a glossy look.
