Lately, I have been really enjoying recreating Anthropologie Home Decor Items on a budget. I have transformed a Dollar Store Vase into an Anthro Vase, a plain mirror into a gorgeous Anthropologie Mirror and today I will be showing you guys my take on their Wall Art collection.

Instructions:

Step 1: So I chose to repaint a Dollar Store frame into a gorgeous Anthropologie-Inspired Wall Art. First I dismantled the frame and painted it in the beautiful DecoArt Traditions True Gold color.

It needed about two coats of paint. When that was done I painted a black border on the outside and inside rim using the liner paintbrush and Carbon Black paint.

Step 2: Before I begin with the actual painting, let me show you the original artwork that inspired me to recreate it on my picture frame.

Here is the Anthropologie Version:

The original painting has a beautiful light pink base color which I created by combining Titanium White and Quinacridone Violet.

Squeeze out a larger amount of the white paint color onto a disposable plate with a few drops of the violet color. Mix it and then apply it to the canvas. I gave it about two coats and let it dry completely before moving onto the next step.

Step 3:

First I tackled the big red flowers in the original image. I used the angled paintbrush and painted the red abstract flowers in the same position as the original artwork. Since they were not a precise shaped flower, it was very easy to paint and a very forgiving design.

Step 4: Next I painted beige circles in some of the areas of the canvas.

Using the liner paintbrush and Medium White paint color I create small circles all around the canvas just like the Anthropologie picture.

Step 5:

The blue detailing in the picture was a mix of light and dark blue. I mixed the Cerulean Blue with the Titanium White to create the light blue strokes using the angled paintbrush.

As for the darker blue leaves I used Cerulean Blue directly without mixing it with any color. I had the original image on my laptop in front of me so recreating the design was very easy.

Step 6:

This step is the last as it was basically the final touches. I painted each red flower with black paint in the middle using the liner paintbrush. The beige circles scattered throughout also got some final touches with red paint being painted in the middle of each circle.

And that was it.

Re-attach the frame onto the painting and you have yourself your very own Anthropologie-Inspired Wall Art on a budget.
