Wooden Spring Sign

Spring is in the air! This season of new beginnings begs for some fresh home decor. Celebrate Spring with a simple spring sign using the new Americana Acrylic paint colors.

Check out those beautiful shades of blue just in time for Spring showers. Each blue is ever so slightly different from the next and all hold their own. The opaque, consistent color on each letter is perfection and the matte finish enhances the true color.

Like all Americana Acrylics, this paint is non-toxic, blends easily and cleans up with soap and water. I use Americana acrylics on all my scroll signs. The wide range of colors and amazing coverage make this paint my first choice.

Items needed:

  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Snow (Titanium) White
  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Open Water
  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Tropical Blue
  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Crisp Blue
  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Green Lagoon
  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Mermaid Tail
  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Golden Yellow
  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Royal Navy
  • Wood or MDF shapes
  • Wood backing
  • Paintbrush
  • 220 grit sandpaper
  • Super glue

Instructions:

Step 1: Gather your wood or MDF pieces and paint a base coat of white. This acts as your primer and provides a neutral base which allows the true color of the paint to shine. Let dry and give a light sanding.

Step 2: Using a paintbrush apply the Americana Acrylic paint to your piece. One coat is sufficient for most colors.

Step 3: Apply glue to the back of each piece and adhere to a wood backing.

Let dry completely then hang and enjoy your Spring decor.

Add a fresh touch of spring decor to your home with a simple sign. Check out all the new 2019 Americana Acrylic colors, they are beautiful and just may be a great fit for your next project.

My daughter used some of these paints to paint wooden letters. She mistakenly painted one red instead of green and tried to paint over it. I realize it is a permanent paint but is there any way to erase the paints from the letters and start over with the correct colour. Please advise. Thank you.

Hi Jenny - The best way to fix the problem of painting a wooden letter the wrong color is to just paint over it since you can't remove it if it has already dried. You can sand it and add a white coat of paint first if you think that will help the correct coat of paint look best.
