Modern Side Table
Posted by DecoArt on Mar 2nd 2018
Inspired by mid-century furniture with a geometric patterned twist, I used DecoArt Matte Metallics to give a simple wooden side table a fresh look. By using painter’s tape in a variety of widths, I was able to maintain much of the original rich dark wood finish while adding pops of silver and charcoal to make it really pop!
Items Needed:
- Traditions Artist Acrylic Brushes - 8 Filbert (TB42-B)
- Americana Decor 1-inch Angle Brush
- Painter's Tape (various Sizes)
- Drop Cloth
- Side Table
Instructions:
Begin taping off areas. Use painter’s tape with different widths to bring variety to your stripes and geometric shapes.
For larger areas, use the 1” angle brush. Coat with Matte Metallics in Charcoal. Remove tape. Allow paint to dry fully before beginning the next step.
*Tip* Remove tape while the paint is just slightly damp to ensure crisp straight lines.
Tape off additional spaces. Now it’s time to use the Matte Metallics in Soft Silver with your detail brush. Remove tape.
*Tip* You may need to add additional coats of the Soft Silver, especially if you are painting on a dark surface like the table pictured. Be patient between coats and allow paint to dry fully!
You’re done!
