DIY Flamingo Wall Art

Hey guys! It's Courtney from Crafts by Courtney. Today, I'm sharing a fun flamingo project that I'm super excited about. Flamingos are so in right now so I thought why not make a project for Valentine's Day using the DecoArt Americana Premium Acrylic paint!

I'm not a painter like some of the other Core Bloggers, but I thought I'd enlist my Silhouette Cameo to help me create this fun project and help keep me in the lines. There's no way to mess up on this art project!

Let's get started!

Items needed:

  • Americana Premium Acrylics - Titanium White
  • Americana Premium Acrylics - Primary Magenta
  • Americana Premium Acrylics - Titan Buff
  • Americana Premium Acrylics - Carbon Black
  • Americana Premium Acrylics - Cobalt Blue
  • Americana Premium Acrylics - Quinacridone Red
  • Americana Premium Acrylics - Quinacridone Magenta
  • Vinyl Cutting Machine
  • Vinyl
  • Wood Panel

Pick Out Colors: The first step was picking out my beautiful colors for this project.

Paint Wood Panel: Next, I used the Titanium White and painted my wood panel. I needed a total of two coats for this step.

Then, I gathered my colors for the flamingos.

Cut Stencil: I used my trusty Silhouette Cameo and found this amazing flamingo design. It's perfect for Valentine's Day or any time of the year. Flamingos are so trendy right now!

Then I used my handy dandy weeding tool so that I was able to use this design as a stencil for this project.

Add Stencil: Now it's time to apply the vinyl stencil to the wood panel.

Paint in Stencil: I'm super excited about this part. Let's add our paint. I really wanted some softer pinks so I added a little Titan Buff and Titanium White to my colors.

I started adding a little of each color to the flamingos, creating different layers.

Now, let's peel up the vinyl to reveal our flamingos!

Wow! There you have it. I could have never painted a flamingo on my own so this was my best option.

Now you're ready to display and start decorating for Valentine's Day!
