Hygge Home Decor

Every once in a while, I love to dip my feet into a different style or use a different color palette. This month, we were tasked with creating something with a “Hygge” motif. I’ll be honest, I had to look up the word! It’s definitely a departure from my typical hot pink and teal, but I’ve come to love it! The warm feeling is perfect for winter and the color selections from DecoArt Satin Enamels could not be more perfectly suited for this hygge theme.

I kept this project simple, since that is a big part of the hygge movement. With a few unfinished wooden pieces, I added pattern and color using Satin Enamels paint. The smooth finish of this paint is great for home décor.

Items needed:

  • Americana Reusable Stick-On Stencils 8x11 - Broken Arrow
  • Americana Decor Satin Enamels 8oz - True Teal
  • Americana Decor Satin Enamels 8oz - Seaside Blue
  • Wooden People
  • Foam brush and foam dauber
  • Unfinished wood house shape – you could also use a cube or hexagon. I just think the house shape really has a …well, homey feel, ha!

Instructions:

Add Satin Enamel paint to the inside of the wood house.  You can paint the entire piece if you wish, but I think the exposed raw wood gives a warm feel.

Weed out the center pieces of the stencil then place into the house. Trim if needed for a good fit.

Use light layers of paint and the foam dauber to add paint to the stencil.

Once you add your wood family to the house, you’ll love the look of this easy hygge home! If you’re still feeling creative, add some painted details to the wooden family!
