Love on Earth Christmas in July
Pinterest Logo

I know, I know it`s only July and I`ve used the Christmas word ~ whooops! Why, you ask?

Life can be crazy hectic and before you know it you’re a week away from the big day PaNiCkInG about what gifts you still have to buy!

Not this year, this year I am going to create little treasures to give to friends and family and to dot around our home adding that little touch of whimsy I love.

Let me show you how I created this little keepsake by stamping on fabric, painting, adding doodles along with my wonky tonk stitching to finish.

Thank you so much for looking.

Big hugs

Items needed:

Stamp image onto fabric using an Archival Ink pad. The Archival Ink pad will not bleed when it gets wet.

Instruction #1 - Step 143

Mix together matte medium with a touch of burnt sienna and titan buff to create a skin tone.

I find the matte medium mixed with the paint stops the paint from bleeding over the fabric. In each step that follows I continually mix each colour with the matte medium before applying to the fabric.

Instruction #2 - step 246

Add touches of pyrrole red mixed with matte medium to her cheeks and lips.

Instruction #3 - step 355

Mix together Titanium white with the matte medium and apply to her hair and wings.

Instruction #4 - step 431

Add a touch of colour to her eyes using Prussian blue hue again with a little matte medium. Add titanium white to the whites of the eyes to make them pop more.

Instruction #5 - step 578

So easy to extend this stamp by just following the shoulders, fill in with the matte medium mixed with titanium white creating a dress. You can make the dress as long or short as you would like at this point.

Instruction #6 - step 691

Use Raw Umber to add definition to the dress.

Instruction #7 - step 730

Now define the face with raw umber going over the eyes, eyebrows and hair. Add touches of titanium white to make her eyes come alive.

Instruction #8 - step 861

Apply scraps of fabric using matte medium to fix it in place.

Instruction #9 - step 93457

Find words/ quotes in old books , snip them out or photocopy them. Fix in place using Matte medium.

Instruction #10 - step 10
Pinterest Logo

Cut another piece of material the same size to create a back piece.

Instruction #11 - step 1165
Pinterest Logo

Pop the two pieces of fabric together then  Machine stitch or hand sew around the two pieces leaving the bottom open.

Instruction #12 - step 1265
Pinterest Logo

Pop some toy filler into the bottom, push into place with the end of a wooden spoon.

At this point be sure not to overfill as the bottom has to be stitched together.

Instruction #13 - step 1399

Sew the bottom closed then take a sharp pair of scissors and trim the excess fabric away.

Instruction #14 - step 1478

Using the above step by steps you can paint on fabric to create tote bags, notebook covers and so much more.

Absolutely charming, Tracy - I love her. Sadly I destroy sewing machines when I sit down at them... haven't yet made friends with one, but this makes me want to try all over again! Alison x
