Praising Skadi

Praising Skadi

In Norse mythology, Skadi is a goddess associated with bowhunting, skiing, winter and mountains. She is the wife of the god Njord and appears to be the most independent of the Norse Goddesses. She is a giantess whose father Thiazi was killed for stealing the Goddess Idun ( and therefore the God's apples of immortality)

On a cold and snowy morning, I felt the icy breath of Skadi in the air and I was inspired to create this shrine

The eye is a download I found on the internet, glued to a round element, from the industrial elements. Adapting the colour of the eye, I've painted with Fluid Acrylics Phthalo Blue underneath the eye and you can also spot some scribbling with Fluid Acrylics Titanium White in the pupil. Around the circle I've painted with Fluid Acrylics Phthalo Turquoise.
