Easy Art Journal Pages
Posted by DecoArt on Jan 20th 2017
I always think of the new year as the perfect opportunity to try those projects you've always wanted to do but didn't know where to start. I am absolutely fascinated by mixed media artists and have really wanted to learn some of the amazing techniques that they make look so easy. I decided that I am going to complete an art journal in 2017. I'm going to play around and have fun with it, while hopefully learning some solid mixed media techniques. By the end of the year, I will have my journal filled with fun pages and it should be fun to see how far I've come. I decided to start with my front cover and am sharing my Easy Art Journal Pages with DecoArt.
Items Needed:
- DecoArt Media Misters - Shimmer Violet (DMM10-30)
- Americana Stencils 12x12 - Timeless Treasures (ASMM01-K)
- Mixed Media Notebook
- Brushes
- Chipboard Words
Instructions:
Gather your supplies.
For the cover, I layered on the cobalt first. I used streaky strokes. I love the night sky, so was trying to play on that.
The next color was cyan. I then followed that with a bit of the gray.
I painted my words in the cobalt.
For the twinkles, I added some interference on top. It made the words super shiny and the color changed as it moved around in the light.
I wanted stars in my nighttime sky and dots of liquid glass were perfect. It's fun to have different textures on the page!
I attached the words with a dab of liquid glass.
When everything was dry, I did a quick spray of shimmer mister. I love the crazy pop of color.
My next page was created in a similar fashion. I started it with a background of violet.
I pulled out my stencil and filled it in with the grey.
I kept the stencil in place and added some interference.
I used the liquid glass to attach the words.
Once again, I couldn't pass up the shimmer mister!
I'm not a crazy mixed media artist, but I love how fun it is to play around and DecoArt makes it so easy. I'm so looking forward to getting better with my art journaling this year.
These Easy Art Journal Pages with DecoArt were so much fun to make and I've spent the time since finishing them thinking about my next pages!
