Dreams and Goals Notebook
Posted by DecoArt on Jan 16th 2017
It's the start of a new year, and I'm all about setting goals and making plans. I have a big calendar/planner to keep track of important deadlines, to-do lists, menu plans and things like that. But I also wanted a small journal to keep in my purse to jot down ideas, quotes, creative inspiration and my wildest dreams and goals.
Because allowing myself more time for creativity is a big goal for 2017, I decided to customize a plain notebook with DecoArt Media products. If you haven't tried your hand at mixed media, put it on your to-do list for 2017! It's so fun to play with different fluid acrylics, textures, and mediums to create unique, personalized artwork.
Items Needed:
- Americana Decou-Page Papers - Metallic Type (DP51-K)
- DecoArt Media Mediums and Specialty Products - Modeling Paste - White (DMM21-71)
- DecoArt Media Mediums and Specialty Products - Clear Matte Medium (DMM20-71)
- Assorted Brushes
- Palette Knife
- Chipboard Journal
- Scrapbook Paper
Instructions:
Gather your supplies.
Remove the cover from the notebook and cover with a single coat of DecoArt Fluid Acrylics in Cobalt Turquoise Hue.
When dry, use Matte Medium to decoupage a torn piece of scrapbook paper onto the journal cover. Apply Matte Medium to the back of the paper first, then apply a topcoat. Trim to fit the notebook and allow to dry.
On a palette, mix DecoArt Media Modeling Paste with Americana Paint in Pink Peony to create a pink paste.
Place succulent stencil over the notebook and using a palette knife, apply a thin coat of the tinted modeling paste. Smooth and carefully lift off the stencil.
While the modeling paste dries, cut out letters from the Decou-Page paper and brush with a thin coat of Fluid Acrylics in Primary Magenta.
When dry, use Matte Medium to decoupage the letters onto the journal. Apply a top coat of Matte Medium to seal letters.
Finally, spritz the journal cover lightly with the white Shimmer Mister. If you like, apply a topcoat of Matte Medium to seal the journal before reassembling it.
Now, go start living your dreams!
