Friendsgiving Table Setting
Posted by DecoArt on Oct 20th 2016
I love hosting Thanksgiving, but this year my family will be out of town so it's just my crew. It's a lot of work to prep, plan and cook for Thanksgiving, especially when there are only five of us. So, this year I've decided to host Friendsgiving for our friends who don't have family in town. To make it extra special I made a few easy DIY napkin rings for our Thanksgiving table setting.
This is such an easy way to dress up your Thanksgiving table and one of those projects that you could make while you wait for the turkey to roast to golden perfection.
Items Needed:
- Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint 8oz - Honor (ADC41-36)
- Americana Decor Metallics 8oz - Vintage Brass (ADMTL05-36)
- Wood Napkin Rings
- Acorns
- Scrapbook Paper
- Washi Tape
- Twine
- Wood Tags
- Napkins
Instructions:
I had my kids go to the park to collect a bunch of acorns. Not only did I think they would be perfect for creating personalized napkin rings, I thought they would be pretty scattered along the table too.
I painted the acorn tops with the DecoArt Metallic paint. I used it to makeover my DIY Metallic Bar Cart, and was so impressed by the color and coverage I use it all the time now! I painted the bottom of the acorns with the Honor Chalky Finish paint.
For the napkin rings, I taped off the middle section with washi tape and painted the outer edges with the Chalky Finish paint. Once the paint was dry I removed the washi tape and painted the center with the metallic paint.
I didn't want everything to match so I created a few different variations for each place setting. I create a few with the pretty painted napkin rings, and a few with the acorns and leaves cut out of scrapbook paper.
This is one of those super easy projects that can help make your holiday extra special. The table is all set and I can't wait to have our friends over for our Friendsgiving celebration.
