It seems like there is a whole new section in my local craft store store geared towards DIYers. I found unfinished 12”x 12” wood frames that I filled with decorative metal sheets cut to size and stapled on the back.

Items needed:

  • Americana Decou-Page Papers - Moroccan
  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Saffron Yellow
  • Americana Decou-Page (Glue-Sealer-Finish) 8oz - Americana Decou-Page Matte
  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Ultramarine Blue
  • Unfinished Wood Frame
  • Assorted Paint Brushes
  • Craft Knife and Mat
  • Glue Gun
  • Wine Corks
  • Battery Operated Candles
  • Ruler

Instructions:

With this cool new decorative frame, it was time to dress it up and give it some flavor. I used the Moroccan Decou-Page paper pack to create a one-of-a-kind candle centerpiece.

I also used Matte Decou-Page and coordinating acrylic paints in pretty blue and yellow to match my Moroccan paper pattern.

First step was to cut my decorative paper to size. I wanted to embellish the front of my wood frame with the pretty patterned paper. So I cut 4 sections matching the front sections of my wood frame, using my ruler, craft knife and self-healing mat.

To coordinate with the patterns on the front of the frame, I carefully painted the outer and inner edges for my frame with the blue and yellow paints.

After the paint was dry, I applied a layer of Decou-Page on the top of my frame and applied the paper sections on top.

To seal the paper sections on I applied a second layer of Decou-Page on the top and let dry completely.

The frame is beautiful on its own and can be used in a variety of different ways. I could hang it on the wall and use it as a jewelry organizer, or just decoration. But I took it step further and turned it into a candle centerpiece.

I wanted to add some depth to the frame for it to sit in the center of my dining room table. So I cut two wine corks in half and glued each half on each corner.

I finished it with arranging three battery-operated candles in the center for a gorgeous candle centerpiece with Moroccan flair. Lovely!

Happy Crafting!

Very nice. Can you provide instructions on how you inserted the metal sheets into the frames and the name of materials.
