NYE Glitter-Metallic Bottles
Posted by DecoArt on Dec 23rd 2015
Are you thinking about New Year's Eve yet?
If so, I've got a fun project for your New Year's Eve party! If you're hosting, these would be perfect for Champagne bottles or sparkling soda (for the non-drinkers like me!) And if you're going to a party, why not make one of these for a hostess gift!?
I can't think of anything that would give your New Year's Eve a little glamour like glitter metallic bottles!
These were really fun to do, using a couple of different paints and some glitter...
Items Needed:
- Americana Decor Maxx Gloss - Hematite
- Glass Bottles
- Coordinating Glitter
Instructions:
And of course they can be customized to your color scheme... If you have a minute, I'll show you how I made these!
First remove your labels. These soda labels came off easily with hot soapy water, but if you need to, use Goo-Gone.
Paint your dry bottle with Maxx Gloss...isn't this a fantastic sheen?!
When the bottle is dry, paint the lower part of your bottle w/ Dazzling Metallics.
Sweep your brush in an upward motion to leave an unfinished edge at the top...
On one of the bottles, I immediately sprinkled glitter onto the wet Dazzling Metallic paint- on the other bottles, I let the first coat of paint dry and then painted another decorative coat to Dazzling Metallics in a different color. I was sure to let both colors show...Then quickly sprinkle glitter on top of the wet paint.
When the paint was dry, I gently brushed the excess glitter off of the bottle and sprayed it with Americana Acrylic Sealer/Finisher- and because I couldn't resist...I added more glitter to the wet sealer...(I added extra to the bottom of the bottles)
After the bottles looked just right, I added another coat of sealer...(of course you have to open windows or spray the sealer outside)
Really, these were so much fun! Happy New Year my friends! -xo
