Ombré Cork Board Necklace Display

Like most women, I tend to collect accessories. Lately, my favorites have been chunky bib necklaces, custom made work from some of my favorite artists, and sentimental family pieces. The issue that I was having was that they are often extra long and I have nowhere to put them where they won’t get tangled.

Until now!

I had an idea of making a cork board necklace organizer to hang on the wall above my dresser but knew that if I was going to create it, it had to be on trend and amazing.

Items needed:

  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Grey Sky
  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Graphite
  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Zinc
  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Slate Grey
  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Pistachio Mint
  • Washi or Masking Tape
  • Tape Measure
  • Foam Block

After selecting your paint {I chose five tones in a gradient as, compositionally, items look best when in odd numbered groupings} measure out your cork board and divide it by how many paint colors you have. Take your washi or masking tape and section off your first color.

Paint your first color, for me it was Graphite, and allow to dry for a few minutes.

Once dry, gently remove your washi or masking tape and place it along the bottom edge of your first color.

Measure out the space for your second color, and repeat the painting.

Repeat those steps until you have painted the entire surface of your cork board.

While you wait for your cork board to be completely dry, count out as many push pins as you will need to organize your favourite necklaces. I used nine, which seemed to fit nicely across my cork board.

Push your pins into the foam block to keep them sturdy, and apply two coats of paint. I chose the Pistachio Mint as it paired nicely with the grey tones, and is one of the hottest colours out there right now.

While you are waiting for the final coat of paint to dry on your push pins, measure out their placement.

Finally, put your pins into place.

Hang your trendy new necklace organizer on the wall, and arrange your necklaces!

I really love how this project turned out and am pleased as punch to be able to see these beauties every day as I get ready!
