Valentine's Day Candy Jar

Valentine's Day Candy Jar

Posted by DecoArt on Feb 3rd 2014

I kind of laugh at people who make silly, sweet things for their husbands for Valentine's day because men don't tend to love silly, sweet things, but guess what? I did it. Something silly and sweet. But it included candy and in this case, my husband's favorite candy, so he'll like it. And it was fun and easy to make and turned out cute. I'm calling it the Love You Because Candy Jar.

Items Needed:

  • Candy Jar
  • Candy To Fill It
  • Paint Adhesion Medium
  • Chalk
  • Paint Brush

Instructions:

I started by painting the lid first with the paint adhesion medium. That will help the chalkboard paint stick later on. Set that aside to dry.

Now, I printed a picture of my and my hubby off of my computer on regular printer paper.

Then I laid my jar on the side (my jar has a flat side on it. You might want to try to find this kind of jar for yours.) and traced the circle part of the jar and then cut my picture out to fit:

I spread a thin layer of decoupage on the jar:

Then placed the image on it and added a second layer of decoupage, this time on top:

Set that aside to dry and if your lid is ready to be painted again give it a coat of the chalkboard paint. You will want to do about 2 coats of the chalkboard paint eventually. So let it dry once, then give it a second coat.

Once that is dry I wrote Love You Because on it.

Inside I poured in my candy:

And then I wrote things I love about him on slips of paper and rolled them up and put them inside:

Once the lids is dry, pop it on and you are done!
