Moody Faux Watercolor Landscape

Moody Faux Watercolor Landscape

Posted by DecoArt on Feb 20th 2020

This painting was inspired by a watercolor piece I had seen on Pinterest (or was it Instagram?). I loved the colors and the moodiness, and I wanted to see if I could replicate that feeling somehow in acrylic. I began the project with the intention of using the Traditions Watercolor Medium to achieve a more wispy, watercolor effect, however, I soon learned that the surface I had chosen was not right for that particular medium. Instead, I turned to my trusty water spray bottle to create the look I desired. I added the tree as the focal point as I have always loved doodling trees (that was actually the first thing I ever did when I decided to start art journaling), and I love the symbolism they bring. I hope you enjoy the project and feel inspired to create a moody landscape of your own!
