Vintage Effect Wash: Layering Inspiration

DecoArt Vintage Effect Wash is a color wash paint that works well on raw wood surfaces or even those finished with Americana Decor Chalky Finish. Be inspired by some of the color combinations we have below.

Achieving a whitewashed look is super easy when you use Vintage Effect Wash White over any surface or color. Just lightly brush it on and wipe it back to get your desired effect. We really like this soft, modern take on a patriotic palette.

This look is on the opposite end of the spectrum from whitewashing. The deep, rich patina achieved by adding Vintage Effect Wash Berry on top of Chalky Finish Victorian would make the perfect piece for a library bookcase or a refined dining room table. The layers or deep red will give a warm, traditional feel to any piece.

Would you rather not wait around for nature to age your pieces? Speed up that process by adding Vintage Effect Wash Patina as the top coat for that perfectly aged look. Pieces with this green hue would look especially nice in a sun room or kitchen as a way of bringing some of the green of the outdoors to inside spaces.

This color palette looks like it was created by the salty air and tropical sun Vintage Effect Wash Turquoise evokes the feeling of Caribbean waters and layers well over anything from raw wood to Chalky Finish Refreshing to give that coastal, relaxed, ocean feeling to any decorative item.

Speaking of ocean breezes, this next color palette looks like it came straight from the captain's berth. Salt water winds definitely weathered this paint or maybe it was just a top coat of Vintage Effect Wash Grey? Either way, visitors will be asking which charming fishing village you visited to get that roll top desk in your study. You can keep your secret or tell them how simple it was to achieve using Vintage Effect Wash.

Rustic style is still very popular with homeowners as well as brides. Whether you are creating pieces for your farmhouse or looking to add some rustic charm to party decor, Vintage Effect Wash Brown will give you that lovingly-aged patina every time. Our favorite is pairing it over Chalky Finish Vintage to create a warm, inviting peace that just begs you to touch it.

We have enjoyed coming up with these color and product combos for you and can't wait to see what strikes your fancy, maybe an end table makeover is in your future? Make sure you tag your projects with #deocartprojects for a chance to be featured.

I have some night stands and little side tables I want to paint and had thought about using the chalky paint. I love all colors but am partial to patina grey and brown, close behind berry turquoise and white. THEY are beautiful colors.
