SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • sandpaper
    • wooden box
    • toothpicks
    • brown paper bag
    • 1/2" stroke brush
    • 1/4" stippler brush

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Sand any rough spots and clean surface completely, removing any dust or dirt. (You want surface to be as smooth as possible.)
    2. Paint the entire top Pinecone Brown.
    3. Paint the bottom Larkspur Blue. (I chose not to paint the interior, but that is a personal choice.)
    4. Using a piece of a brown paper bag, gently sand the top again and reapply one coat of Pinecone Brown. (This is to ensure a smooth surface for better adhesion of the stencil.)
    5. Place the Elegant Damask Stencil in position, centering it on the box lid, and gently pounce on Larkspur Blue. (Do not use too much pressure, as this can cause the paint to seep beneath the stencil and the blur design. Should this happen, use a toothpick to remove any excess paint before it dries. If already dried, use a small liner brush to touch up any areas you aren't happy with.)
    6. (Optional) If you didn't paint the interior of the box, seal it using Clear Coat.
