Summer Vacation Fund Jar

Repurpose a glass jar into a place to stash extra cash for that special summer getaway.
SUPPLIES
- water container
- paper towels
- 38-ounce glass jar with clamp lid
- three camel hair paintbrushes
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Let dry completely between painting steps.
Refer to jar views for placement and design.
- Paint the entire jar Blue Crystal; wait 15 minutes to dry.
- Paint an oval label on one side of the jar with Citron Green.
- Paint the beach with Sand.
- Paint the mountains in True Blue.
- Paint three Shimmering Silver buildings of varying heights.
- Repeat steps 2 through 5 for second coats; let dry 15 minutes.
- Paint the trunk of palm tree on beach with Dark Chocolate.
- Paint the fronds on the palm tree by using downward brushstrokes of Festive Green.
- Paint the crab with True Red. Use dots of White for eyes and even smaller dots of Black for pupils.
- Paint the snow on top of the mountains with White.
- Paint the sun above the mountains with Bright Yellow. Allow this layer to dry for 15 minutes.
- Once the palm fronds are dry, use a Brown Glass Paint Marker to outline the fronds and the truck as well as to add dots to the sand.
- Use a Green Glass Paint Marker to draw small pine trees in front of the mountains, if desired.
- Use a Black Glass Paint Marker to outline the Shimmering Silver buildings and to add windows to the buildings and birds to each scene. Let all dry.
- Once the label area is dry, use Red, Violet, and Green Glass Paint Markers to write out “Summer Vacation Fund” on the jar.
- Add dots of White around the label area.
- Finish off the entire painted area with a coat of Clear Medium.
