DIY Yellow Distressed Shutters

Make new wood look delightfully rustic and aged using Americana Decor® Chalky Finish™ paints
SUPPLIES
- paper towels
- sandpaper
- pencil
- large flat brush
- small nail and hammer
- nails
- safety glasses
- wood boards
- measuring tape
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Let dry completely between painting steps.
- Using the provided building plans, build the shutters.
- Using a large flat brush, paint the shutters a desired color. (Shown: Heritage)
- Distress the shutters with either a power sander or by hand with a sheet of sandpaper. (A hand sander will provide quicker results and a more intense look.)
- Glaze the shutters with the desired glaze using a wax. (You can use either Americana Decor Clear and a brown Crème Wax or a Home Depot glaze. If using Americana Crème Wax, apply a coat of Clear Crème Wax, allow to dry, and then apply a Crème Wax in Deep or Golden Brown.)
