Posted by DecoArt on Mar 12th 2014
A simple piece of lumber turns into a rustic, yet sophisticated, home accent with Americana® Decor™ Chalky Finish.
SUPPLIES
- paintbrush
- lint-free rag
- sanding block
- drill and 1" router bit
- pencil
- tape measure
- candles, 1" in diameter
- 4" x 4" x 8" Douglas fir lumber (cut to length)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Paint a piece of wood with several layers of your chosen Americana® Decor™ Chalky Finish colors, letting dry between each coat. We used Vintage, Treasure, and Whisper, but you can choose colors to match your decor.
- Use a sanding block to distress the painted wood and wipe away any dust.
- When you are happy with the finish, seal the paint by applying a coat of Clear Crème Wax with the waxing and finishing brush and buff with a lint-free rag.
- Determine how many candles you would like on the candleholder. Measure that number of holes so they are spaced equally and mark the spots with a pencil.
- Use 1" router bit to drill a hole at each measured spot.
- Add candles to holes.
