The beauty of trendy handmade signs is that you can personalize them in color, message, or size.
SUPPLIES
- water container
- paper towels
- disposable gloves
- three poplar boards
- wood stain
- 220-grit sandpaper
- staining sponge
- MDF letters spelling "EAT"
- Gorilla® Glue
- clean cloth
- 2" x 24" wooden board
- miter saw
INSTRUCTIONS
- Lightly sand the boards with 220-grit sandpaper to create a smooth surface. Wipe away any residual dust off the boards and work area.
- Stain the boards using a cloth or staining sponge. Apply an even coat of stain onto the board; wait five minutes and then remove the excess stain with a cloth. Allow the stain to dry; apply a second coat if needed.
- Paint the craft letters with Warm White. Let dry; lightly sand the letters to give them a distressed look.
- Cut the 2” x 24” piece into two with a miter saw. (Note: This can be done in Home Depot free of charge.) Apply Gorilla Glue to the piece and place over the three stained boards; repeat on the right side with remaining piece.
- Place a heavy object on top of 2” x 12” pieces to allow glue to properly bond to boards. Allow glue to dry for 24 hours.
- Apply glue to the back of each letter and adhere to the front of the boards. Allow to dry completely.
