Christmas Terra Cotta Pot Trio

Give a gift of plants in a threesome of terra cotta pots with holiday symbols of Patio Paint Outdoor™.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • transfer paper
    • 1" flat brush
    • three 4" terra cotta pots
    • fine point brush
    • plastic bags

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. SANTA POT: Paint the pot with a layer of Honeydew: use a wrinkled plastic bag and dip in paint to create an antique look. (Let some terra cotta color show.)
    2. Paint the rim of the pot Geranium Red.
    3. Transfer the pattern to the pot, using grey transfer paper.
    4. Use a #1 flat brush to paint Santa: face is mix of (1) part Cloud White with (1) part Geranium Red; cheeks are the same mix with a bit more Geranium Red; hat and nose are Geranium Red; beard and hat trim are Cloud White; eyes, eyebrows, and detailing in hat and on beard are Wrought Iron Black.
    5. Apply Clear Coat to the inside and outside of the pot with a 1” flat brush.
    6. REINDEER POT: Paint the pot with a layer of Deep Buttercup: use a wrinkled plastic bag and dip in paint to create antique look. (Let some terra cotta color show.) Let dry.
    7. Paint the rim of the pot Geranium Red.
    8. Transfer the pattern to the pot, using grey transfer paper.
    9. Use a #1 flat brush to paint the reindeer: antlers are Wrought Iron Black; face is Pinecone Brown with Cloud White highlights and Wrought Iron Black shadows; and nose is Geranium Red with Cloud White highlight and Wrought Iron Black shadow.
    10. Apply Clear Coat to the inside and outside of the pot with a 1” flat brush.
    11. HOLLY POT: Mix (1) part Cloud White with (1) part Daisy Cream and paint the pot with a layer of the mix; use a wrinkled plastic bag and dip in paint to create antique look. (Let some terra cotta color show.) Let dry.
    12. Paint the pot rim Mistletoe Green.
    13. Transfer the pattern to the pot, using grey transfer paper.
    14. Use a #1 flat brush to paint the holly: leaves are Mistletoe Green with Wrought Iron Black shadows and Cloud White highlights; berries are Geranium Red with Wrought Iron Black centers. Let dry.
    15. Apply Clear Coat to the inside and outside of the pot with a 1” flat brush.
