“That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” William Shakespeare
Generously apply Decou-Page to canvas and to back of journal and book page.
I applied a journal sheet to 3/4 of my surface, vintage book page to the remainder. Apply to canvas and gently smooth out with used credit card to diminish bubbles.
Finish by brushing Decou-Page onto sides and corners of the adhered papers. Brush on a light coat of Titan Buff to each side and wipe off excess with paper towel. Giving the page an aged appearance.
Allow to dry and apply pattern with tracing and graphite papers.
Begin by washing yellow and sap green into rose and leaves.
Begin by shading dark areas in with Raw Sienna. Strengthen darkest areas by shading in Burnt Sienna. Add a few washes of Naphthol Red Light to brighten. Highlight with a brush mix of Yellow and Titanium White. Strengthen highlights with Titanium White. Work back and for the until satisfied.
Tint a small amount of Burnt Sienna into each leaf. Giving them an aged appearance. Once dry, Apply Sap Green to darkest areas. Lightly add veins and define edges with Sap Green.
Highlight with a brush mix of Yellow and Titanium White. Darken stem with Raw Umber wash. Line and add tiny thorns with same. Add a few Burnt Sienna highlights.
Add a light shadow underneath main design with a brush mix of Titan Buff and Raw Umber. While moist, gently take a dry brush and soften shadowed areas.
Splatter Burnt Sienna into the background.
