Bird of Paradise

About the project
This was a flower I saw walking my dog one morning. I have always loved the wildness of the colors and decided one day to paint it.

About the product:
This entire (acrylic) painting is done using DecoArt Americana paints. Everyone that sees it thinks that its a photograph. Using Americana Paints by DecoArt, I found that I was able to achieve the same effects I could with oils but oddly enough, by using the methods I was using in my craft work.

We’ve all had fabric painting mishaps– whether during creation, execution, or even after with care of the painted surface– when you paint on fabric, things happen.

But what really rubbed us the most (pun intended) was the itchy, scratchiness of traditional fabric painted surfaces. Those feelings are certainly lessened when using high-quality fabric paint, like our popular SoSoft line– but we still wanted more. Or less, in this case.

Enter Ink Effects. What was created out of an idea of ridiculously soft painted clothing became a real occurance when our labs developed this line of paints. Available in 12 bright colors, with a Basecoat for prepping natural fabrics, this type of craft paint product really changes the game for so many uses of creating fabulously soft fabric crafts.

We’ve got tons of inspiration at our NEW Ink Effects site, but you know that real consumers always take our products to their best level.

We sent our Ink Effects line to more than 35 bloggers to see what they could create with us. And, as a result, we’ve had spectacular projects Blogged & Shared with us! See the multitude of ways to use Ink Effects over at our Pinterest board, and stay tuned here for more featured Ink Effects projects coverage.

And don’t forget to come back to DecoArt.com/diy to SHARE what you create with Ink Effects– we’d love to see it and feature your work, too!

Tudor Windmill Birdhouse

About the project
Harken back to the old days of Tudor England. Funny how wind power is in vogue again after 600 years! This came to me as a plain blank windmill and after a recent visit to the Renaissance Pleasure Faire, I was inspired to give my windmill a “Renaissance” look.

Old windmills used cloth to give the blades more power so I added a touch of red fabric for a one of a kind look that will be quite outstanding in your home decor. This wooden birdhouse is a decorative item using Renaissance Tudor design. This is an original, hand painted bird house, one that will be a topic of conversation!

This windmill is 16 1/2″ H (with blades) x 11 1/2″ W x 6 1/2″ D. This is a decorative item and is for indoor decoration only.
