Marbled Welcome Sign

Marbled Welcome Sign

Summer is finally here and that means I finally get to complete my outdoor projects that have been pending all winter.

For the longest time I have wanted a Welcome Sign on my front door and today I will show you guys how I created this beautiful Marbled Welcome Sign.

I personally love the marbling paint technique, as the results are just so gorgeous and unique every single time. I have used it to transform furniture pieces, create wall clocks and even artwork.

You should definitely try it out.

Items Needed:

Instructions:

Instruction Image #1

First off, assemble the plastic cups and start by pouring all the Patio Paint colors one by one in each cup.

Instruction Image #2

The amount of paint you pour, the exact same amount of Pouring Medium you will need in each cup.

Stir the paint so it is completely mixed in with the Pouring Medium.

There are various ways you can create the marbling pattern, some people pour all the paint in one cup and then create the marbled pattern.

I pour the colors individually, layer it on top of each other and then move the item, in this case, is this rectangle shaped wooden piece.

Instruction Image #4

Tilt the wood piece in all directions until you have the marbling results or you can always add on more colors and play around with it until you get the desired results.

This is how my piece was coming along. I absolutely love how bright and cheerful it was turning out.

Let it completely dry before moving onto the next step.

This part is optional but I used DecoArt Decou-Page Glue and attached artificial flowers in the color yellow at one end of the wood piece.

*Americana Dishwasher-Safe Decou-Page is rated for outdoor use after it cures for 14 days.

When that was dry, the final step was to stencil on the Welcome Sign.

By using a stencil brush and DecoArt Patio Paint in the color Cloud White I stenciled on the word "welcome."

Lastly, I always like to create an outline when I stencil hence I used Extreme Sheen in the color Rose Gold and outlined the word "welcome."

*To make this sign weather resistant, seat the completed project with an outdoor-rated sealer, like DecoArt Americana Multi-Purpose Sealer

And there you have it.
