Entertain in style with this slate cheese tray that is also a chalkboard. Add colorful chalkboard strips to the side of a slate tray and serve up a selection of cheeses in style. You can vary the colors of the chalkboard strips easily with our clear chalkboard coating.
Items Needed:
- Painter's Tape
- Foam Brush
- Water Basin
- Palette
Instructions:
Start with a slate tray, Americana Mutli-Surface paint, and Clear Chalkboard Coating. I used turquoise waters on my tray but you can choose any color in the line for this project. You can shop for a variety of slate trays online and in stores. They are typically used for cheese trays but I thought adding the colorful strips would put a new twist on my party.
Add painter’s tape and paint two coats of the Americana Multi-Surface paint of your choice onto the slate, I used Turquoise Waters. Be sure to dry in between coats. Then add two coats of Americana Clear Chalkboard Coating on top of that. Be sure to add one coat vertically and one coat horizontally to get complete coverage. Allow to dry and cure before continuing. Remove the painter’s tape, condition your surface with chalk, and then write on the names of some cheeses.
Your slate cheese tray is ready for any party. You can easily erase the chalkboard surface and serve up new cheese at your next event.
What color will you use to match your décor or party? Add a slate cheese tray to your party supplies and let your guests taste some amazing cheeses. The colorful strips of chalkboard will just add to the party décor.
