Stamped Socks

Stamped Socks

Posted by DecoArt on Feb 24th 2014

Why should t-shirts have all the fun?  SoSoft Fabric Acrylics are so versatile that they can be used to leave clear, colorful impressions with stamps on socks.  Because these paints are truly so soft, the socks remain comfortable (not stiff!) to wear.

Items Needed:

  • Knee High Socks
  • Cardboard
  • Fabric Stamp
  • Clear Stamp

Instructions:

Instruction Image #1

Trace a sock onto cardboard and cut it out to make a sock "form".  Insert the form into the sock.

Paint your socks!  I tried two methods.

Fabric stamp:  Paint the stamp and press onto the sock.  I used a brush to add additional paint to the stamped image, as I wanted a brighter print.

Clear stamp:  Place the clear stamp on a clear block, paint the stamp, and press onto the sock.  Add more color to the sock with a brush if needed.

Allow it to dry, then show off your new socks!  I was pleased to find that the colors look even brighter after they have dried.

The fabric stamp left a clearer, brighter impression, but the clear stamp worked well, too.  I look forward to creating lots of themed and holiday socks!  Give it a try; you'll be glad you did.
